Dragons being crazy as Christmas and poor Luhan doesn’t quite know what to do with them all.

Story

Walking into the grand hall of the private living quarters, Luhan could only find himself blinking in quiet surprise when he was greeted by a sight that most would have described as complete turmoil. There was a very large tree that had been half dragged into the space and then set up at a lopsided angle, several large boxes filled with an assortment of brightly coloured ornaments and other assorted things. There were also several boxes in various stated of wrapped or unwrapped mess, it was really hard to tell and it looked as though someone had managed to get a whole bucket of glitter thrown all over the place.

Well actually mainly all over his younger brother Yifan who was sitting very still looking like a sparkly Christmas ornament himself. However, Luhan couldn’t help but smile at the sight because for the first time in as long as the older brother could remember, Yifan was actually enjoying Christmas. Normally he would be present for a token to keep Jiaheng happy and his presence would have only just been tolerated by their parents, though he would be under the strictest orders to behave himself, not speak a word unless spoken to and would receive a gift that was a mere token as well. Though to the often neglected young boy even the smallest gift in the world would have been treasured.

Of course Luhan and Jiaheng had always held their own Christmas with Yifan away from their parents so there was joy to be had but Luhan had always got the impression that these never quite made up for the loss which Yifan always felt. Though now that he had nine dragons running a complete muck around him, despite the fact that they were in human form for the most part, Yifan had certainly gained everything he had ever wanted and more.

Chuckling, Luhan stepped closer to his youngest brother, not caring in the least that his royal robes were going to get covered in the glitter which had been split all over the place, “What happened to you, little brother?”

Jumping a little in surprise, Yifan tilted his head up towards Luhan and blinked in shock before smiling and shaking his head which caused glitter to go flying about even more than it had done before. “Tao and Sehun,” he said as by way of explanation with a fond chuckle before elaborating, “They were playing chase with the glitter not realising that Yixing had put an expansion spell on it. So when they collide with me it sort of went all over the place. I’ll make sure they clean it up before we go.”

Luhan laughed, ruffling the younger’s hair as he stood up, “No need. I’m sure by the time those two are done playing it will be practically all cleaned up anyway. Speaking of, where are those two little trouble makers?”

Opening his mouth to respond, Yifan paused and seemed to have some kind of mental conversation before groaning, “They’re outside with the others. I best check on them before they try and uproot the garden or something.”

Luhan couldn’t help but laugh, “Dear little Fanfan, will you please stop fretting? They can make as much mess as they like, you know for a fine fact that I can’t abide things being all prim and proper all of the time.”

Frowning slightly at the nickname, since Yifan was actually now just a few centimetres taller than his elder brother, the Dragon Prince shook his head, “I know that but there’s a difference between making a mess and causing uttermost havoc and destroying your garden.”

Luhan laughed again, shaking his head and about to argue back when he suddenly let out a yelp as something cold, though thankfully soft came pelting through an open door to hit him in the side of the face. Yifan panicked for all of a second before letting out his own yelp when he too was hit by a snowball and without even pausing to stop and think what could be going on, both brothers headed out into the garden.

Well garden was no longer the correct term as the entire place had been turned into a snow fortress, well two to be precise, complete with turrets and look out windows courtesy of Suho and Xiumin more than likely and everyone appeared to be engaged in a rather fiercely fought snowball game to try and claim the other side’s fortress. There were snowballs flying back and forth all over the place, occasional spurts of the dragon’s powers as they tried to trick one another into losing ground – though for the most part it was just colourful sparks and thankfully Sehun and Tao were not yet aware of their own powers so that made life a whole lot easier – and the space was filled with the sounds of joyous laughter.

Kyungsoo popped up next to Yifan, his large owl eyes almost belittling his small stature, grinning manically, “Are you joining us?”

Yifan nodded excitedly, “Yes, though only if Luhan can as well.”

“Yay!” Kyungsoo exclaimed, “Then we can be even! You’re on our team!”

“No!” Sehun yelled, appearing suddenly behind Yifan and wrapping himself tightly around the Dragon Prince, “Mine!”

“Sehun,” Yifan started to scold the other only to suddenly find himself no longer next to his two dragons and elder brother but rather on top of one of the fortresses in the safe and secure grip of Kai, Luhan’s personal body guard, who grinned mischievously at the shocked expressions.

“Ha! I have him now and you won’t get him back!” Kai called in a teasing manner, his eyes alight with the prospect of a good fun game with the dragons because whilst Yifan knew he would be handed back, he also knew that Kai would not play fair in the slightest, especially with his teleporting power.

Luhan burst into a fresh series of giggles as the dragons immediately bounded together in an attempt to get their Prince back, working as one to communicate and attempt to get the naughty man who had stolen their prince away. Of course, Kai just kept on teleporting out of harm’s way with Yifan, never actually putting him in danger in the slightest and by the time half an hour had passed everyone was run ragged.

Even Kai was breathing heavily as he sat down on his original starting place cuddling Yifan to his chest, “Man, they won’t ever give up, will they?”

The dragons were below them, half whining at Luhan to call his bodyguard off and half trying to formulate a plan to catch Kai unawares. Yifan could only smile, it felt good to know that they would be willing to do anything in order to protect him but it was still so much fun to see them confused. Though his dark eyes picked up Chanyeol hidden craftily in the shadows of the large snow pile that they were sitting on and it only took two seconds for the Dragon Prince to figure out just what he was going to do.

“Wait! Chanyeol!” Yifan called out just a fraction too late as the fire dragon extended his hand into the snow pile. The next second everyone was drenched in slightly heated snow melt and they all ended up in a big heap in the centre.

Strangely though Yifan burst out laughing, unable to contain himself in the slightest, “Well, that was certainly one way to get me back.”

Suho pulled at Chanyeol’s large ears, “You twit! The hatchlings will catch colds now!”

“We’re all going to catch colds,” Chen lamented, though managed to find some ice that wasn’t completely melted and shoved it down the back of Chanyeol’s robes, “Though this one is getting it the worst out of all of us.”

Luhan just laughed and shook his head, “No one is going to catch a cold. We can take a hot bath and snuggle next to the fire.”

“I’ll brew up the cold stopping drink I know,” Kai winked, hugging up to Luhan despite being a sopping mess and smiling brightly, “There’s nothing better than that.”

Yifan was about to point out giving alcohol out to the hatchlings would be a bad idea but suddenly found himself rather preoccupied with the pair as they sniffled and crawled their way onto his lap and held on for dear life. Sighing Yifan nodded, “I had enough trouble dealing with Tao’s itching attacks, I don’t need to be having both…achoo!”

Xiumin moved to pick Yifan up, “Hmm, I think I’m more worried about our Prince getting a cold than any of us. Where is this bath, Lord Luhan?”

“How many times do I have to tell you to just call me Luhan?” the King replied with a grin, “You hold someone far higher in rank in your arms in comparison to me and you call him by his first name.”

“Well that’s…it’s…Erm…” Xiumin stuck on his words only to be petted by Suho who was pulling Tao into his arms because the boy was beginning to shiver badly.

“He’ll stick with formalities forever, trust me,” Suho smiled broadly, “But I do agree that getting warm should be a priority for all of us.”

Kai caused everyone to jump when he popped back into existence next to them, having teleported away at some point during their conversation, “The bath is all set up and I’ve got the brew started so we shall all be perfectly fine.”

“Thank you, Kai,” Luhan said, before jabbing his bodyguard in the side which caused the man to let out a very unmanly squeal, “Did you remember to actually fetch some towels so that we would not drag water everywhere or are you…?”

Luhan could only let out a splutter of shock when he found himself teleported, sans clothes into the hot bath and very swiftly he was joined by everyone else, including Kai who only grinned at him in a cheeky manner.

About to scold his personal body guard, Luhan was instead distracted when Yifan and Suho had to go wading into the slightly deeper part of the bath to pull Sehun out because he was splashing an annoyed looking Baekhyun and instead let out a laugh. This was definitely not the most conventional of Christmas family gatherings in the slightest, but Luhan couldn’t have asked for more.
